Accessibility questions

Are the venues accessible for wheelchair users?

Yes – our main Saturday venues of St Davids Hall and Cornerstone are accessible for wheelchair users. Venues for Sunday are also accessible for wheelchair users.

Is there accessible transport from the accommodation to the venues?

This depends on where your accommodation is – we will provide information in delegate packs about public transport and taxis in Cardiff, but can provide this in advance. Please email community@handinhandcardiff.com for more information.

I have a carer and will be bringing them. Can I register them for free?

Yes, you can. Please see the below section on registration for more information.

Will there be gender neutral toilet facilities?

Yes, we will be liaising with venues to make sure there are designated gender neutral toilet facilities.

I have a specific access requirement that is not covered by these answers - can I contact you to explain my needs?

Yes, please email us and we can work from there. Email community@handinhandcardiff.com and let us know if you have any other needs regarding access.

Accommodation questions

Is there accessible accommodation?

There is accessible accommodation in Cardiff city centre. Accessible halls accommodation through Cardiff University is fully booked but many city centre hotels have accommodation. Please see the following page for information about hotels around the city: https://book.passkey.com/event/49765704/owner/9557225/home

What budget accommodation is still available?

We have spoken to Liberty Living who are a private student accommodation provider in Cardiff. They are available for both individual and block bookings and can be contacted by emailing summergroups@libertyliving.co.uk. Rooms with Liberty Living are £45 per person per night.

Can I arrange my own accommodation?

Yes, you can. This may depend on what your choir have agreed to do, but there are other accommodation options as well.  We have arranged preferential rates for Hand in Hand delegates with Cardiff City Council and Visit Cardiff at various hotels around the city. You can get access to this information here:  https://book.passkey.com/event/49765704/owner/9557225/home

We would also suggest looking on Airbnb for smaller groups.

Registration questions

The Integra planner wants me to pay via paypal for registration. Can I pay in a different way?

Integra does require payments to come through paypal, but you can pay as a guest and do not need to make a paypal account.

I have a carer and will be bringing them. Can I register them for free?

Yes, you can. Please email info@handinhandcardiff.com and we will be in contact to help you do this.

I’m a refugee / asylum seeker and I want to attend, but the registration fee is too high for me to afford. Is there any way I will be able to attend?

Yes – we want our event to be accessible for refugees and asylum seekers and so we are not charging for registration if you are in those groups. Please email info@handinhandcardiff.com and we will be in contact to help you register for free.

I want to attend with my partner/family but they aren’t in the choir. Should they register?

Your partner/family are very welcome to attend the festival! They won’t need to register but will be able to buy a ticket to attend the concerts on the Saturday. This doesn’t include access to backstage or to social events. Please be aware that as some social events are in the evening they won’t be accessible to children and young people.

Other questions

Is there a theme to the festival?

There is no festival theme and choirs are welcome to perform any repertoire they like!

Is there rehearsal/practice space that my choir can use?

Each choir will have a tech rehearsal before the concerts on Saturday, which will give you a chance to practice briefly with our stage set up. There aren’t practice rooms for Saturday other than directly before concerts so each group can warm up.

What time does the event finish on Sunday 18 August?

We will be finished by 3pm, with the handover to Newcastle 2021 in the Senedd down in Cardiff Bay. This event isn’t obligatory so if your group has to leave earlier to travel home that won’t be a problem.
